Our Work
Nutrition - Nilishe

If we can conquer space, we can conquer childhood hunger. —Buzz Aldrin
Youthful Faces volunteers are first-hand witnesses to the horrors of malnutrition and hunger—and their long-lasting impact on growing children.
With a commitment to nutritional support, Youthful Faces is working to end hunger, one child at a time. By sharing the harsh realities of the children that our volunteer teams identify, we can create awareness and encourage others to join us as we work toward a world where no child is hungry

Education - Nifunze

Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. —Nelson Mandela
We believe that each and every individual has the potential to change our world, and with knowledge as fuel, that change can be for the greater good of all.
Education opens doors—it develops the mind, encourages critical thinking, drives innovation, and leads to solutions for real and relevant problems. We believe that when we provide children with quality education, we all take a step toward a better world
Youthful Faces makes a commitment to ongoing education through high school graduation. Without a high school diploma, children in our program would have few employment choices as adults, and might forever be limited to low-paying jobs as manual laborers, seasonal farm workers, or menial house servants. This commitment is especially critical to young girls, who are often married off at a very young age if relatives are too poor to care for them. Education is critical to breaking the cycle of poverty. It transforms marginalized boys and girls into leaders and role models for others in their communities

Healthcare & Medicine - Nitibu

He who has health, has hope. He who has hope, has everything. —Arab proverb
It is estimated that 5.4 million children under the age of five died in 2017—and roughly half of those deaths occurred in sub-Saharan Africa.
Our work in Kenya is critical because these deaths can be prevented. How? YF teams work very hard to make sure that the children we support have quick, easy access to essential medical services on demand—including childhood vaccinations and medicine. We partner with physicians across Kenya to ensure that children receive the care they need, when they need it. A healthy child is a productive child, ready to play, learn, and grow.

Jenga

A man travels the world, searching for what he needs, and returns home to find it. —George A. Moore
As we continue to provide nutritional support, commitment to education, and essential healthcare to the children we serve, Youthful Faces expanded services for children and their families in 2019. Home is where the heart is and where children should look forward to returning. Unfortunately, for too many of the children we serve, substandard housing has a negative impact on physical and mental wellbeing. Every child deserves a healthy home—a place where they feel safe, secure, and happy. Our new Jenga Program has an ambitious goal—to build new, comfortable, and appropriate homes for each child in our program. So come Jenga (“build”) with us—either as a hands-on volunteer in Kenya, a fundraising ambassador, or through a donation. Brick by brick, year by year, we’re dedicated to creating new homes, built on a solid foundation of love
